Rob, Kristin & Bristol– a taste for adventure
On a Wheel and a Prayer… well actually 6 wheels, and a whole lot of prayers…
Welcome! This blog site is going to document the crazy adventure my husband, Rob, took from idea to reality in a short timeframe– drive a newborn–and family!– across the country. Stars aligned enough (baby healthy, vaccines received, leaves coincide) and the gumption was just enough to get us on a “buy a bus and go see family and detour TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTRY” trip.
So, 2 months– from “we’re doing this!” to embarking on the roadtrip. Despite the prescient Engagement picture props, we are new to this type of travel and lifestyle. Rob’s parents aren’t however — and we are fortunate enough to have them along with us in their tried-and-true and already packed RV.
If I were a reader of this, I imagine I’d be thinking of a mixture of “wow, that’s amazingly bold– I’m jealous.” and “Heck no – I wouldn’t do anything that brash. Thank goodness it’s them and not me.”
Where does the blog title originate? Well – this trip is absolutely crazy. We haven’t had enough time. With under 2-weeks until we were scheduled to leave, it became clear that prayer was going to be vital to getting us on the road (and bringing us home safely, and still as a family unit, too if we are to be honest). And the wheel? Well, we aren’t flying are we? And there is a story there too… but I’ll save that for a post.
In this moment, people are looking for something substantial. A challenge. A cause. And, this, friends, will be a grand adventure. A substantial adventure. A challenge… and are we adequately prepared? Probably not.
But are we ever “adequately prepared” for the grandest adventures?
Ride along with us… I am pretty sure it will be a hilarious event.
25 states for $25K (plus a lot of sweat equity and supplies!).
Editors Note: This site/blog post series will likely be a bit “all over the map,” fairly unpolished, as the author (Kristin) is a website novice and will likely be posting from the road, baby en tow, with minimal sleep and who knows what else going on… graciousness appreciated and benefit of the doubt requested. Many thanks.
Fun fact: the pics on this page were taken as part of our engagement photo shoot by one of Kristin’s friends many years ago. Of course we still look that young!…
